The season
Whales are in Cabo waters roughly December through April, with the peak usually mid-January to March. Outside that window, you won't reliably see them — so if this is a priority, plan your dates around it (see best time to visit Cabo).
What you'll see
Humpbacks breaching and slapping, gray whales with calves, and often dolphins and sea lions along the way. Mornings tend to be calmer water and better light.
Skip the crowded boat
The big group whale-watching boats work, but they're packed and rushed.
