The three beach clubs on Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, honestly compared: Taboo, SUR Beach House and Bagatelle Los Cabos. Hours, how access works, what each one costs you, and which suits your group.
Three beach clubs sit within a few minutes' walk of each other on Médano Beach, and guests ask us to book all three by name. They are not interchangeable. One is a party, one is an all-day room you can bring your parents to, and one is a French lunch that turns into a party around four o'clock.
Here is the difference, and how each one actually lets you in — because that part varies more than the menus do.

Taboo — the loud one
Taboo is the beach club at ME Cabo, Meliá's adults-only hotel on Médano, and it is the one people mean when they say they want a beach club day in Cabo. Two pools, Bali beds, VIP lounges, a Mediterranean menu, and a DJ booth that is the point rather than the background. The hotel's own description calls it the social epicentre of the resort, which is fair.
It runs 11am to 1am daily, so it is a beach club that keeps going after dark. Spring break and New Year's Eve are enormous there, with fireworks.
Book a bed rather than turning up. The good ones — front row, shade, near the pool — are spoken for by mid-morning in high season, and the minimum spend on a front bed is materially higher than on a back one. Worth knowing before the bill lands.
Who it suits: a bachelor or bachelorette group, a birthday, anyone who wants the day to have a soundtrack. Not the choice with children, or with anyone who wants to hear the table.
SUR Beach House — the one that works all day
SUR Beach House sits on the sand at the Bahia Hotel, a short walk or a thirty-second golf cart ride from the hotel itself. It is open from first light to last call — breakfast, lunch and dinner — which makes it the rare beach club you can use as a restaurant rather than an event.
The food leans Baja: local seafood, ceviche, craft cocktails and a proper zero-proof list, which matters more than people admit on a group trip.
The access model is the useful part. SUR does not sell day passes. Instead there is a minimum food and beverage spend, and it comes off your bill — you are spending it on lunch, not on the privilege of sitting down. Non-guests are welcome. Reserve through their site or OpenTable, and confirm rather than assume.
Who it suits: mixed groups, families, anyone who wants a long lunch and a swim rather than a scene. Also the easiest one to move a reservation around if plans shift mid-week.
Bagatelle — the French one
Bagatelle Los Cabos is the Cabo outpost of the St-Tropez group, with venues from Montauk to Dubai, and it behaves exactly as you would expect: white linen, rosé, a French Mediterranean menu from chefs Rocco Seminara and Marco Estrada, and a lunch service that escalates into dancing on the banquettes.
Daily 11am to 1am, at Paseo de la Marina 4750 on Médano.
Two booking notes. Reserve through their own booking page or on WhatsApp at +52 624 125 5006 — and for New Year's Eve, they do not take OpenTable at all; that night runs on a separate platform and sells out early. If NYE in Cabo is the plan, this is a November conversation, not a December one.
Who it suits: a milestone lunch, a group that wants to dress for it, anyone who has done Taboo before and wants the same energy with better food.
The practical bit
- Médano is the swimmable beach. That is why all three are here. Our beach guide covers which other stretches you can actually swim at, and which will pull you off your feet.
- Reserve every one of them. Walking up works in September. It does not work between December and April, and it certainly does not work over a holiday week.
- Ask what the minimum is before you sit. Front-row beds carry real minimums at Taboo and Bagatelle. Nobody hides it, but nobody volunteers it either.
- Getting there: Médano is a five-minute drive from town and a long, hot walk from most villas. Arrange the car both ways, and agree the pickup time before the first round.
- Cash and cards: all three take cards. Tips are customarily 15 to 20 percent and are not always included.

Villa Marena is beachfront on Médano itself, which puts all three within a walk. The Pedregal houses — Villa Peñasco, Villa Las Palmas, Sunrise Villa — are a five-minute drive down the hill.
